Coleman Funeral Home has debuted its third facility in north Mississippi, with a branch location now open in Southaven. The move broadens Coleman’s service to families in DeSoto County, where it also operates a 6,500-square-foot custom-built location in Olive Branch.

Coleman Funeral Home was founded in Oxford in 2004. For the past four years, it has been co-owned by partners Glenn Coleman, funeral director and embalmer; and Tom Fowlkes, MD, chief financial officer, both of Oxford.

“Our vision has been to provide the highest quality service to the families of north Mississippi — while also giving them the best value we possibly can,” Glenn Coleman said.

“It’s been gratifying to see how well-received our approach has been, both in Oxford and now in DeSoto County,” he said. “People are tired of stuffy, uncomfortable funeral homes and outrageous costs that hit them in their time of grief.

“Families today want warm, welcoming facilities, personalized memorials, and transparent pricing. Being able to deliver exactly what they need has been deeply rewarding for us.”

In Southaven, Coleman Funeral Home has rented a former home on Church Road, across from Tanger Outlets, to serve as its initial location in the community. Funeral services and visitations arranged through Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven are held either at local churches or at Coleman’s Olive Branch location, about a 15-minute drive away.

In Oxford and Olive Branch, Coleman Funeral Home’s facilities offer a departure from traditional funeral homes with their low ceilings and dark, somber spaces.

Instead, Coleman facilities are filled with natural light and feature vaulted ceilings, rustic beams and stacked-stone fireplaces. Each has a built-in coffee bar, a catering kitchen, and a main chapel space that can be arranged for row-style seating or for seated meals and receptions.

Because the spaces are so inviting, they’ve hosted not only funerals but also recitals, trade shows and even weddings. An in-house event management professional helps ensure that funerals and non-funeral events alike are customized and smoothly run.

Coleman also bucks funeral home tradition by posting its complete price list on its website, so that people can compare costs when pre-planning. To schedule a pre-planning meeting with a funeral director, contact Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford at (662) 234-3900.
