Businesses and groups invited to take part Oct. 29

Funeral Assistant Charles Maples hands out candy at last year’s Trunk or Treat event.

Local businesses and groups can sign up now to be a part of the second annual “Trunk or Treat” event at Coleman Funeral Home.

The event is scheduled for Oct. 29 from 5-7 p.m. It is open to up to 32 local vendors, some 500 trick-or-treaters are expected to attend. There is no cost to attend or set up a trunk at this event. The deadline to register as a vendor is Oct. 22.

“Coleman Funeral Home wishes to offer a safe trick or treat experience for children and an opportunity for local businesses to interact with the community,” said Kathy Brummett, family care coordinator with Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. “We are seeking businesses who would like to decorate their trunk and provide treats for children, and we invite all children to come trick or treating.”

Groups should decorate their trunks with care, as the group whose trunk voted the best by the trick-or-treaters will receive a prize.

The event is open to all children aged 12 and under. Trick-or-treaters are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for the event, but costumes are not required. At 5:30 p.m., there will be a costume contest held, awarding the best-dressed trick-or-treater with a prize. All attendees wishing to participate in the costume contest must be present at the start of the contest.

Businesses or individuals interested in providing a trunk and passing out candy are asked to call 662-234-3900 or email [email protected].
