Ribbon cutting, open house set for Aug. 10

The new Olive Branch facility shares the same design as Coleman’s Oxford funeral home.

The Olive Branch community has a new, modern choice for funeral care.

Coleman Funeral Home is preparing to open its custom facility at 6815 Parkview Blvd., across the street from the YMCA of Olive Branch. The 6,000-square-foot funeral home is a light-filled space designed around the needs of today’s families.

“After two years of getting to know the people of Olive Branch, we are delighted to offer them this beautiful new facility,” said Glenn Coleman, co-owner of Coleman Funeral Home. “This space is designed to meet the needs of this community for years to come.”

Coleman Funeral Home was established in Oxford in 2004. It opened a second location in Olive Branch in 2015. It has served families from a temporary facility on Goodman Road while building the new funeral home.

Its permanent location is a far cry from the dark, mournful spaces typical of funeral homes in the past. With vaulted ceilings, a stacked-stone hearth and bright natural light, the building is truly a place to celebrate life.

“Honoring the life of a loved one is about bringing family and friends together,” Coleman said. “Our facility is built for hospitality and personalization. Families can hold receptions and feed out-of-town guests. Even a small visitation feels more welcoming with complimentary snacks and a coffee bar.”

The facility includes a large chapel space that can be converted into a banquet hall for catered meals and receptions. Likewise, the Yamaha baby grand piano situated in the main hall can be used both for services and during receptions if a family desires. A catering kitchen is located nearby.

Viewing and receiving rooms for visitations are adjacent to the main hall. Guests enter through an entrance hall that extends into a hospitality area, with a coffee bar, complimentary refreshments and comfortable seating. There is also an outdoor patio area.

The community will have its first chance to see inside the new facility at a Ribbon Cutting & Open House event, set for Aug. 10 from 4-6 p.m. with the Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce.

The facility is also available as a venue for non-funeral events including receptions, luncheons, trainings, trade shows, ceremonies and recitals. The Oxford location has even been used for weddings.
